We've all been there. We've all had those days, weeks, months, or sometimes even years where we feel like we're just going through the motions. Life has just lost its luster, and we can't seem to find joy in anything. We become so bogged down in day-to-day life that we forget what it means to truly live.
If you find yourself feeling exhausted, drained, or stuck in a rut, then here are four pieces of advice to help you love your life again so you can start living your life to the fullest.
LEARN TO LOVE YOUR LIFE
1. Appreciate the little things
When was the last time you stopped to smell the roses? When was the last time you watched a sunrise or sunset? When was the last time you took a deep breath and just appreciated the world around you? If it's been a while, then it's time to start appreciating the little things again. You can listen to your favorite music, and stroll through old pictures that bring back happy memories. Appreciating the little things can lead to greater happiness and well-being.
2. Be grateful for what you have
It's easy to get caught up in what we don't have and forget about all of the great things we do have. Make a list of everything you're grateful for—big or small—and refer to it when you're feeling down. It could be something as simple as having a roof over your head or being able to take a hot shower after a long day. When you first wake up, instead of picking up the phone, Start your day with 5 things you are grateful for and you will feel better. Try caring around a gratitude stone. Put it in your pocket and whenever you touch it, think of something you are grateful for. The more times you practice gratitude in your day, the happier you will become.
3. Do something that makes you happy every day
This doesn't mean that you have to do something big or extravagant every single day. Sometimes, happiness comes in small doses. Maybe today, happiness is enjoying your cup of coffee, taking a walk outside and enjoying the fresh air, or working in your garden. Tomorrow, it could be taking some time for yourself to read your favorite book. Whatever makes you happy, make an effort to do at least one thing each day that brings a smile to your face.
4. Spend time with people who make you feel good
Surround yourself with positive people who make you feel good about yourself—people who will lift you up instead of tear you down. These people could be friends, family members, or even acquaintances. Whoever they are, make sure they add value to your life and make spending time with them a priority. If you haven't spoken to a friend or family member in a while, give them a call or zoom and reconnect, it will brighten their day and yours.
